Newly renovated Institute of Neurology at National Hospital opened

The newly renovated Institute of Neurology at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka was officially opened by Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni.

The renovation, carried out at a cost of around Rs. 99 million, is expected to strengthen neurological services in the country by improving the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.

The ceremony also marked the unveiling of the portrait of the Institute’s founder, Dr. J.B. Peiris, and the official opening of Neurology Wards 62 and 63, which together provide 44 beds for patients.

Addressing the event, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical services across Sri Lanka.
