Yoshitha Rajapaksa Released on Bail

Colombo, June 17 – Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was arrested earlier today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The court ordered his release on three personal bail bonds of Rs. 5 million each.
In addition, the court imposed a travel ban, preventing Rajapaksa from leaving the country while investigations are ongoing.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court following his arrest by anti-corruption investigators. After considering the submissions made by both parties, the court granted bail subject to the specified conditions.
The case is linked to an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Bribery Commission. Authorities are expected to continue their inquiries, while further legal proceedings will take place in the coming weeks.
The arrest and subsequent release on bail have attracted significant public and political attention due to Rajapaksa’s connection to one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent political families.
