Court Adjourns Hearing of Writ Petition Filed by Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa

Colombo, June 17 – The Court of Appeal has adjourned the hearing of a writ petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, seeking to prevent his arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.

The petition was taken up today (17) before Justices Rohana Abeysuriya and Priyantha Fernando.

During the proceedings, the court decided to postpone further consideration of the matter for additional review.

Accordingly, the petition is scheduled to be taken up again tomorrow (18) before a different bench comprising Justices Rohana Abeysuriya and Sarath Dissanayake.
