Complaint Filed Over False Social Media Claims About Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s House

A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over social media reports claiming that a house worth Rs. 400 million belongs to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s wife, Shiranthi Rajapaksa, stating that the allegations are completely false.

The complaint was filed by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) activist Pasan Kasthuri. Speaking to the media afterward, he alleged that members of the current government have become uneasy as various corruption allegations against the administration continue to emerge.

He further claimed that false and baseless propaganda campaigns are being carried out against the Rajapaksa family, accusing the government of spreading unverified information without evidence.

Kasthuri also criticized the actions of the Justice Minister, stating that discussing court cases openly on political platforms raises serious concerns regarding the independence and credibility of ongoing investigations.

He questioned how the public could maintain confidence in investigations if such matters are publicly discussed by political figures.
