Anti-Drug Rally to Be Held in Trincomalee Under “Say No” Theme for National Youth Day 2026

In line with National Youth Day 2026 celebrations, the National Youth Services Council Trincomalee District Secretariat has organized an anti-drug awareness rally under the theme “Say No”.

The rally is scheduled to take place today (23) at 9.00 a.m., beginning from the vicinity of the Governor’s Office at Uvarmalai in Trincomalee and proceeding to the Trincomalee Bus Stand.

This year’s Youth Day programs are being conducted in collaboration with the national anti-drug campaign “Rataama Ekkata” with the aim of encouraging young people across the country to voice their opposition to drug abuse.

Authorities noted that the increasing use of narcotics among various age groups in society has led to serious health, economic, and social problems. The impact on the younger generation in particular is seen as a major threat to the country’s future.

Accordingly, National Youth Day 2026 is being commemorated under the theme “Say No” to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society.

The anti-drug rally is also intended to actively engage the public in efforts to eliminate the drug menace from society.

Several creative awareness activities, including paintings, posters, street dramas, banners, and slogan campaigns, are also expected to take place during the event.
