Luxury airport bus service between BIA Katunayake and Makumbura resumes operations

The luxury bus service operating between Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, and the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre has been resumed from today (01), offering passengers a more convenient and comfortable transport option.
The service is jointly operated by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited and the National Transport Commission, under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation.
The journey takes approximately 50 minutes, with a fare of Rs. 410. Buses will operate at 45-minute intervals, from 5:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.
Authorities have also conducted special training programmes for drivers and conductors to ensure a higher standard of service, efficiency, and passenger safety.
Officials noted that the resumption of this service is expected to strengthen connectivity between the airport and key transport hubs, benefiting both local and foreign passengers while also supporting tourism and economic activity in Sri Lanka.
