Protest Held Demanding Reinstatement of School Principal

A protest was held today, Wednesday (20), in Kudathanai North demanding that a school principal should not be transferred.

The principal who had been serving at Karaiyur A.M.T.K. School in Kudathanai, Vadamarachchi East, Jaffna, was temporarily transferred by the Department of Education a few days ago.

Following this, former students, parents, and well-wishers of the school staged a protest around 7:45 a.m. today, demanding that the transferred principal be reappointed to the school.

During the protest, participants raised slogans such as:
“Do not transfer the principal,” and
“Education authorities, explain the reason for the principal’s temporary transfer.”

More than 75 parents, villagers, and well-wishers took part in the protest.

At the conclusion of the protest, a petition addressed to the Director of Education was handed over to the current acting principal of the school.

It is noteworthy that the principal had earlier been transferred following complaints and requests made by certain dissatisfied parents, former students, and well-wishers to the relevant education authorities.
