Suspect Arrested for Rs. 1 Million Online Bank Fraud

A suspect has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake website resembling the official site of a private bank and defrauding Rs. 1,000,024.

The arrest was made following an investigation launched by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division of the North Western Province, based on a complaint received. The suspect was taken into custody yesterday (20) and handed over to the Wariyapola Police Station.

Police identified the suspect as a 22-year-old youth from Minuwangoda.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court today (21)
