Police Dismiss Social Media Bomb Threat Rumours as False

Sri Lanka Police have rejected reports circulating on social media and certain websites claiming that a series of bomb attacks were being planned in crowded areas, including Colombo, stating that such information is completely false.

Police Media Spokesman F.U. Wootler confirmed that no such incidents have been reported.

However, he noted that an individual with close links to a person known as “Kanjipani Imran” has been arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division.

Further investigations into the suspect are currently underway, police added.
