Committed to Advancing Peace – Pakistan PM Holds Talks with Iran President

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation yesterday with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, discussing key regional developments during a 45-minute call.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, both leaders exchanged views in detail on the current regional situation. Sharif also expressed appreciation to Iran for sending a high-level delegation led by Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for recent talks held in Islamabad on the 11th and 12th.
Pakistan is currently playing a mediating role in efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran. However, the first round of discussions between the two sides ended without agreement.
A second round of talks is scheduled to take place today, though it remains unclear whether Iran will participate. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned of severe consequences if no agreement is reached, further heightening tensions in the region.
