Woman Arrested for Drug Trafficking

A woman involved in large-scale drug trafficking has been arrested by the Police Special Task Force Sri Lanka along with a stock of Kerala cannabis.
The arrest was made during a raid carried out by officers of the Special Operations Unit attached to the STF headquarters in Horana. The operation took place at a house located in the Kudawaskaduwa area, within the jurisdiction of the Kalutara North Police.
According to initial investigations, the 44-year-old suspect, a resident of Waskaduwa, is believed to be a member of a trafficking network led by an individual known as Pombuwala Navin. She is also alleged to have been distributing drugs on behalf of another trafficker, Kathanarachchige Nuwan Iresh Fernando.
The suspect, reportedly known by the alias “Patti Akka,” was found in possession of approximately 2 kilograms and 750 grams of Kerala cannabis, along with Rs. 110,000 in cash and an electronic weighing scale, all of which were seized by the authorities.
Following her arrest, the suspect has been handed over to the Kalutara North Police for further investigations.
