Former Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, has been named as the second suspect in the case involving the abduction and disappearance of 11 Tamil youths between 2008 and 2009.

The development was announced during proceedings before the Fort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (June 10).

Accordingly, the court has issued summons directing Admiral Wijegunaratne to appear before the Fort Magistrate’s Court on July 27, 2026.

The case relates to the alleged abduction and enforced disappearance of 11 Tamil youths in Colombo and several other parts of the country during the period between 2008 and 2009. The incident has remained one of Sri Lanka’s most high-profile human rights cases and has been the subject of extensive investigations over the years.
