State of Emergency Extended by One More Month

The general state of emergency declared by the President has been extended for a further period of one month.

The relevant gazette notification was issued yesterday (28) by Presidential Secretary N. S. Kumanayake.

The extension has been made in view of the disaster situation caused by Cyclone Ditwa Cyclone. The decision aims to ensure public safety, maintain normalcy in the country, and guarantee the uninterrupted supply of essential goods and services to the public.
