Sri Lanka participates in 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva

A Sri Lankan delegation led by Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe is participating in the 114th Annual International Labour Conference (ILC), which commenced today (01) in Geneva, Switzerland.

The conference is held under the theme “Advancing Social Justice, Promoting Decent Work” and will continue until 12 June. It brings together representatives of governments, employers, and workers from the 187 member states of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Often referred to as the “Parliament of Labour,” the conference will focus on key global labour issues, including decent work in the digital and platform economy, gender equality, social dialogue, and strengthening cooperation among governments, employers, and workers.

Sri Lanka’s participation provides an opportunity to share national experiences on international labour standards, contribute to global discussions on emerging workplace challenges, and highlight efforts to promote fair working conditions, social justice, and sustainable economic development.

The Sri Lankan delegation also includes the Secretary to the Ministry of Labour S.M. Piyatissa, Commissioner General of Labour Nadika Wataliyadda, and several other senior officials.
