Prime Minister’s Hajj Greetings Message

I extend my heartfelt and sincere greetings to all Muslim people in Sri Lanka and around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the Hajj festival, which is devoutly celebrated by Muslims worldwide while upholding the noble values of sacrifice, brotherhood, and compassion.

Hajj is a deeply significant religious occasion that commemorates the immense devotion and supreme sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim. This sacred festival conveys to the world the importance of being willing to dedicate even the most valuable and cherished possessions for the betterment of humanity and in obedience to the will of God.

On this important occasion, we must all emphasize the value of overcoming our differences, embracing brotherhood and coexistence, and working together in unity.

The message of Hajj, centered on sacrifice and compassion, serves as an excellent example for the journey toward building a strong, peaceful, and prosperous Sri Lanka.

Therefore, we must all commit ourselves to setting aside narrow divisions, showing respect and kindness toward others, and building a society filled with peace and harmony.

I pray that this Hajj festival brings happiness, peace, prosperity, and blessings to all of you.

Dr. Harini Amarasuriya
Prime Minister
Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
