Government to Amend Buddhist Temples Ordinance to Re-establish “Dharma Court” – President

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the government is taking steps to amend the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance No. 19 of 1931 in order to re-establish a “Dharma Court” with the authority to make decisions regarding disciplinary issues involving Buddhist monks.

The President made these remarks while addressing the National Vesak celebration held today (27) at the Mitellawala Viharaya in Matara.
