Deputy Minister Calls for Integrated Plan to Maintain Canals and Walkways in Colombo Urban Zone

Eranga Gunasekara, Deputy Minister of Urban Development, has instructed officials to implement an institutionally coordinated plan for the proper maintenance of reservoirs, drainage canals, and walkways in Colombo and surrounding areas.

He stated that a unified and systematic approach is necessary to ensure the long-term maintenance and management of waterways and public pathways within the Colombo urban zone.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during an inspection visit conducted yesterday (25) to observe the ongoing renovation work at the Talawathugoda reservoir, located within the limits of the Maharagama Urban Council.

During the field visit, attention was also given to the condition of nearby canals and pedestrian walkways surrounding the reservoir area.
