Workshop Explores Integration of Enterprise Development Programmes with the “Prajashakthi” National Movement

A special workshop was held yesterday (June 6) at the Presidential Secretariat to examine the integration of enterprise development programmes implemented by government institutions with the Prajashakthi National Movement.

The discussions focused on identifying development initiatives currently being carried out for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) by various state institutions and incorporating related information into a unified data management system.

Participants also explored the development of a strategic framework to ensure the coordinated implementation of these programmes. Attention was given to identifying the nature, scope, and eligibility criteria of enterprise development initiatives conducted by the respective institutions.

Government officials attending the workshop were briefed on the criteria and procedures for selecting beneficiaries for programmes directly linked to enterprise development.

In addition, discussions examined opportunities for implementing programmes either independently or collaboratively between relevant state institutions and the Prajashakthi National Movement. Particular emphasis was placed on avoiding duplication and overlap in programme planning and execution, thereby improving efficiency and resource utilization.

Among those attending the workshop were Kapila Janaka Bandara, Senior Additional Secretary to the President; Sampath Manthrinayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment; resource persons Kalum Jayaveera and Madhava Muthukudaarachchi; officials from the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, government representatives, and members of the Prajashakthi Secretariat.

The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen support for MSMEs through improved coordination among government institutions and national development initiatives.
