Two Moulavis Arrested Over Alleged Abuse of 14-Year-Old Girl in Ampara

A moulavi has been arrested in connection with the alleged abuse of a 14-year-old girl in the Eragama area of the Ampara District.

According to reports, the suspect had initially fled the area but later surrendered before the Ampara Magistrate’s Court through a lawyer. The court ordered that he be remanded until June 3.

Investigations have revealed that the victim is a 14-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, another 21-year-old moulavi, who is alleged to have assisted the main suspect, had already been arrested and remanded in custody.

The Eragama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Authorities have not yet released additional details, and the allegations remain subject to ongoing judicial proceedings and police investigations.
