National Identity Card Number Mandatory for All Examination Applications

The Department of Examinations has announced that providing a National Identity Card (NIC) number has been made mandatory when applying for all examinations conducted by the department.
As part of this initiative, school principals have been instructed to take steps to ensure that students who intend to sit for the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, scheduled to be held in December 2026, obtain their National Identity Cards in advance.
Accordingly, the Department emphasized that both school and private candidates must obtain their National Identity Cards before applications for the examination are called, as it is now a compulsory requirement for the application process.
The move is intended to streamline candidate identification and improve the efficiency of examination administration.
