Police Release Daily Report on Nationwide Anti-Crime and Anti-Drug Operation

Police have released the daily report of the special island-wide operation being carried out under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police to prevent crime and drug-related activities.

The special operation was conducted across all regional police stations at divisional level to identify and arrest suspects connected to criminal activities throughout the country.

Accordingly, 27,517 individuals were searched by police yesterday, during which 592 suspects were arrested.

Among those arrested were:

  • 22 individuals identified as being directly linked to criminal activities
  • 276 persons wanted under court warrants
  • 192 individuals with open warrants

In addition, police also arrested:

  • 98 persons for driving under the influence of alcohol
  • 86 persons for reckless driving
  • 3,930 individuals for various other traffic violations during the operation.
