Four Female Estate Workers Injured in Wasp Attack in Bogawantalawa

Four female tea estate workers have been injured after being attacked by wasps while plucking tea leaves at the Kerkeswald Upper Division Estate in Bogawantalawa, despite heavy rainfall in the Hill Country.

Police from Bogawantalawa stated that the injured workers were admitted to the Bogawantalawa District Hospital immediately after the incident, which occurred today (14) around 12.30 p.m.

According to the workers, the wasp nest located beneath a tea bush was disturbed while they were working in the rain, causing the insects to swarm and attack them.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed that the condition of the injured workers is not currently considered serious.

Bogawantalawa Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
