Elderly Woman Found Burnt to Death in Jaffna

The burnt body of a 79-year-old woman has been discovered in the Araly South area of Vaddukoddai.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Kaluvalththurai area in Araly South. It is reported that her two children are living overseas, and she had been under the care of a domestic helper.
According to reports, her children had attempted to contact her several times today by phone but were unable to reach her. They subsequently informed neighbors, who visited the house and found her body burnt.
Two kerosene containers were found near the body, one of which was completely empty. Additionally, a rope tied to a ceiling fan inside the house was found to have been cut.
The incident was reported to the Vaddukoddai Police, and officers along with forensic teams have commenced investigations.
The body has been taken to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examination.
