“Ehipassiko” Peace Walk Concludes – Ven. Pannagāra Thero Meets President

Following the successful completion of the seven-day “Ehipassiko” peace walk held across Sri Lanka, Ven. Pannagāra Thero met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake last night (28) at the Presidential Secretariat.
During the meeting, Ven. Pannagāra Thero expressed gratitude for the government’s support in organizing the peace walk, noting that it was a truly inspiring experience aimed at sharing the message of peace with the world and promoting the heritage of Buddhist teachings internationally.
He also extended his appreciation for providing a sapling of the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi for the “Dhamma Chetiya” project in Texas, USA, as well as for granting permission to exhibit the Sacred Tooth Relic during the upcoming International Vesak celebrations at the Hung Tao Vipassana Meditation Center.
The Thero further commended the compassion and care shown towards animals, including “Aloka,” along the route of the peace walk.
He conveyed his thanks to the Maha Sangha, the President, the people of Sri Lanka, security forces, veterinary and medical teams, and all media institutions for their dedication and support.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the government aims to sustain the Buddhist revival inspired by the peace walk and to further develop Sri Lanka as a nation of peace and humanity. He also expressed gratitude, on behalf of the Sri Lankan people, for the Thero’s commitment to global peace.
Among those present at the occasion were Ven. Melpitiye Wimalakeerthi Thero, Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando, and Chairman of the National Design Centre Sisira Amarabandu.
