Asanga Seneviratne Elected President of Sri Lanka’s National Olympic Committee

Asanga Seneviratne has been elected as the new President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.

The election was held today (25) during the committee’s official voting session. A total of five candidates contested for the position.

Key contenders included Jaswar Umar, President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, and Sirandha Peiris, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Shooting Federation.

Seneviratne secured 16 votes to win the election and will serve as President for a four-year term.

His leadership is expected to contribute to the development of Olympic sports and strengthen athlete performance in Sri Lanka.
