Rural Roads, Drinking Water and Waste Management to Receive Special Focus in Next Budget – President

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stated that special attention will be given in the upcoming budget to address issues related to rural road development, drinking water supply, and solid waste management.

He made these remarks while attending the Batticaloa District Special Coordination Committee meeting held recently.

The President emphasized that people’s representatives should take an active role in resolving the drinking water issues in Batticaloa. He also directed relevant authorities to ensure the full development of the Valachchenai Harbour.

Furthermore, he instructed officials to commence all planned road construction projects within the current year.

The discussions mainly focused on accelerating infrastructure development and addressing long-standing basic service issues in the district, particularly drinking water shortages and waste disposal challenges.
