Vijay Urges Extension of Voting Hours in Tamil Nadu Polls

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has requested the Election Commission to extend voting hours by two additional hours in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election 2026.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, he highlighted that many voters in Chennai and other urban areas are facing difficulties in reaching their assigned polling stations due to inadequate public transport facilities.

He urged the Election Commission to instruct state transport authorities to arrange proper transportation for voters to ensure wider participation.

Vijay also pointed out that long queues have been reported at several polling centres, with delays in the voting process. He called on election officials to review the situation and take immediate steps to speed up voting procedures.

Further, he proposed extending polling hours until 8:00 p.m., stating that such a move would help voters affected by transport issues to cast their votes. He emphasized that all voters arriving at polling stations within the extended time should be allowed to vote.
