Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026: Voting Underway

Voting has commenced across all 234 constituencies in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election 2026 today (23), with polling taking place in a single phase.
The election, which runs from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., sees approximately 56.7 million eligible voters casting their ballots.
More than 75,000 polling stations have been set up across the state, with over 100,000 police personnel deployed to ensure security.
Special arrangements have been made for elderly voters and persons with disabilities, while large numbers of voters were seen queuing up from early morning to participate in the democratic process.
With intense competition among major political parties, additional monitoring and live surveillance have been implemented at sensitive polling stations.
The votes cast today will be counted on May 4, and the results—determining the formation of the new government—will be announced on the same day.
