Nuwan Thushara Withdraws Petition Seeking Clearance for IPL

Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara has withdrawn his petition filed before the Colombo District Court, seeking a court order to compel Sri Lanka Cricket to issue a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) for participation in the 2026 Indian Premier League and other international franchise leagues.

The petition was taken up for hearing today (23), during which Senior Counsel G.G. Arulpragasam, appearing for the petitioner, informed court that his client no longer wished to proceed with the case.

He noted that several matches of the IPL had already concluded, making the continuation of the petition unnecessary.

Accordingly, the court granted permission to withdraw the petition and dismissed the case.
