National-Level Competitions of the 36th National Youth Sports Festival Begin Today

The national-level competitions of the 36th National Youth Sports Festival, organized jointly by the National Youth Services Council and the National Youth Clubs Federation, commenced today (June 6).
This year’s competitions will be held across 14 venues in different districts of the country, with separate events for both male and female participants.
A wide range of sports events will be conducted, including beach volleyball, swimming, badminton, carrom, cricket, kabaddi, chess, netball, basketball, football, volleyball, elle, tug of war, and a night marathon.
The competitions will take place in several locations, including Negombo, Ratnapura, Colombo, Galle, Matara, Maharagama, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Gampaha, Hambantota, and Homagama.
The festival officially began with the Beach Volleyball competition at Negombo Beach Park. The event is scheduled to be held over two days, on June 6 and 7.
Participants who emerge victorious at the divisional level competitions qualify for district-level events, while district-level winners advance to the national-level competitions.
The main events and closing stages of the 36th National Youth Sports Festival are scheduled to be held in November at the Diyagama Stadium in Homagama, Colombo District.
