Vesak Dansal Registration Announcement

The Public Health Inspectors’ Association has announced that the registration of dansals organized for the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day will commence from next Monday.

According to the Association’s Secretary, Samil Muthukuda, these registration activities will be carried out at Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices across the country.

He further stated that the Ministry of Health has already issued special guidelines regarding the organization of dansals. The public has been advised to consult Public Health Inspectors to obtain further details and ensure compliance with health regulations.

Meanwhile, it was reported that a total of 382 dansals had been organized island-wide in connection with the recent Full Moon Poya Day. All of these had been properly registered, he added.

It is also noteworthy that two Full Moon Poya days fall in the month of May this year. Although May 1 was initially considered the Vesak Full Moon Day, the government has officially declared May 30 as Vesak Poya Day, following guidance and agreement from the Mahanayake Theras of the three Buddhist chapters.
