Virat Kohli Sets New IPL Record

Virat Kohli has created a new milestone in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the 2026 T20 season.

Kohli became the first player to score over 8,000 runs in the IPL in India. He achieved this feat during last night’s match against the Gujarat Titans.

Coming into the match with 7,998 runs in 231 innings, Kohli scored 28 runs off 13 balls, surpassing the 8,000-run mark. He now has 8,016 runs in 232 innings, placing him at the top of the list for most runs scored in IPL matches in India.

In comparison, Rohit Sharma is second with 6,274 runs in 237 innings, followed by Shikhar Dhawan with 5,819 runs in 187 innings, David Warner with 5,689 runs in 164 innings, and Suresh Raina with 4,958 runs in 181 innings.

Apart from Kohli’s record, the match also saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru being bowled out for the first time in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, scoring 155 runs.

In response, the Gujarat Titans chased down the target, scoring 158 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 15.5 overs, securing a convincing 4-wicket victory.
