Over 156,000 Arrested in Nationwide Anti-Drug Operation

Sri Lanka Police have reported that 156,456 individuals have been arrested during a large-scale anti-drug operation conducted across the country.

According to the Sri Lanka Police Media Division, the operation—carried out under the national initiative “Yukthiya”—has been ongoing from October 30, 2025, to April 23, 2026.

During this period:

• A total of 157,423 raids were conducted
• 2,663 suspects were placed under detention orders
• 1,993 individuals identified as drug dependents were referred to rehabilitation centers

Authorities stated that the operation is part of a broader effort to combat drug-related crimes and reduce substance abuse across the country.
