Yoshitha Rajapaksa Arrested by Bribery Commission

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested today after appearing before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.

According to sources, Yoshitha Rajapaksa arrived at the Commission premises to record a statement regarding a corruption-related probe. Following questioning by investigators, officials carried out the arrest as part of the investigation.

The arrest has generated significant public and political attention, given Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s links to one of Sri Lanka’s most influential political families.

Authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the specific allegations that led to the arrest. However, officials confirmed that further investigations are underway and that legal proceedings will follow in accordance with the law.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa is expected to be produced before the relevant court, where further decisions regarding his detention and possible bail application will be considered.
