Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa Files Petition Seeking Protection from Arrest

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed a petition before the Court of Appeal seeking an order preventing his arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The petition was filed through Attorney-at-Law Sanath Wijewardena.
The respondents named in the petition include the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Shani Abeysekara, and the Officer-in-Charge of the CID, Madhava Gunawardena.
The petition requests the Court of Appeal to issue an order restraining the authorities from arresting the former president under the PTA as investigations related to the Easter Sunday attacks continue.
