Those Responsible for the Easter Sunday Attacks Must Be Punished – Shanmugam Kugathasan
Shanmugam Kugathasan, Member of Parliament for the Trincomalee District, stated that the Easter Sunday attacks were an inhumane act and that the masterminds behind them must be brought to justice and punished.
Speaking at a media briefing held at his office in Trincomalee on Sunday (14), he responded to a question raised by a journalist regarding the Easter Sunday attacks.
He said that innocent people who had gone to churches for worship were unjustly killed and emphasized that those responsible for planning and carrying out the attacks should face legal action.
Kugathasan further noted that Kodiswaran, a Member of Parliament from the Ampara District, had also spoken about the matter in Parliament, and that this reflects the position of Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) as well.
He stressed that:
- All individuals connected to the attacks should be identified and arrested.
- The masterminds operating behind the scenes must be brought before the law.
- Justice must be served for the victims and their families.
He also remarked that politicians often focus on maintaining their political positions, but regardless of political considerations, everyone involved in the Easter Sunday attacks must be identified and punished according to the law.
