Deputy Defence Minister and Defence Secretary Attend Russian National Day Celebration

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.) and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.) attended the Russian National Day celebration held at the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel in Colombo on June 10.
The event brought together government representatives, diplomatic officials, military leaders, and distinguished guests to commemorate Russia’s National Day.
Minister Upali Pannilage Attends as Chief Guest
Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, Upali Pannilage, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The Ambassador of Russia to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Levan S. Dzhagaryan, welcomed the invited guests and dignitaries.
Cultural and Commemorative Activities
The celebration featured a number of cultural performances and commemorative activities marking Russia’s National Day.
The event served as an opportunity to highlight the longstanding diplomatic relations and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Russia.
Participation of Senior Officials and Diplomats
Among those in attendance were the commanders of Sri Lanka’s armed forces, foreign diplomats, officials from the Russian Embassy, and several distinguished guests from various sectors.
The gathering reflected the friendly relations between the two countries and their continued engagement across diplomatic, economic, and cultural spheres.
