Yasas Hewage Assumes Duties as New Chairman of the Industrial Development Board (IDB)

Yasas Hewage officially assumed duties as the new Chairman of the Industrial Development Board (IDB) on June 1.
The IDB, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest enterprise development institutions with a history of more than 60 years, plays a vital role in promoting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supporting industrial development across the country.
Hewage brings nearly 20 years of experience in areas including:
- Banking and finance
- Business strategy
- Marketing
- Entrepreneurship development
- Sports tourism
Before this appointment, he served as the Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development and was involved in several national initiatives aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s SME sector.
Speaking on his appointment, Hewage highlighted the importance of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship in driving Sri Lanka’s industrial transformation and creating a new era of industrial excellence.
His appointment is expected to further enhance the IDB’s efforts to support SME development, innovation, and sustainable industrial growth throughout Sri Lanka. 🏭📈🚀
