Special Security and Traffic Management Plan Implemented for Vesak Festival – Police

Sri Lanka Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler, has announced that special security and traffic management plans have been implemented across the country in view of the Vesak Festival.
He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone acting in a manner contrary to the cultural and religious values of the Vesak week.
Security Arrangements
Special security and traffic regulations have been implemented covering all 25 administrative districts of Sri Lanka, he stated.
Police officers in plain clothes and intelligence personnel have been deployed near places of worship, free food distribution points (dansalas), and Vesak zones to ensure public safety.
Traffic Monitoring
The public are encouraged to report individuals driving motorcycles, three-wheelers, or other vehicles in a dangerous or disruptive manner during Vesak celebrations.

The Police Headquarters stated that these measures have been introduced to ensure the safety of the public visiting Vesak celebration zones.
