Transport Ministry Secretary Kapila Perera Decides to Resign

Professor Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, has reportedly decided to resign from his position.
The decision follows a recent Supreme Court ruling which stated that Professor Kapila Perera had violated the fundamental rights of a senior official of the ministry.
According to reports, Professor Perera has already informed President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of his decision to step down.
An official notification regarding his resignation has also reportedly been submitted to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
Sources indicate that, after serving in the public sector for a long period, he decided to resign following the completion of his tenure.
Before entering public service, Professor Kapila Perera served in the academic sector and previously held the position of Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa.
Ministry sources further state that, after resigning from the post of ministry secretary, he is preparing to rejoin the university service.
