Repairs of Oil Tanks in Trincomalee Underway

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has commenced renovation work on four oil tanks in Trincomalee, and it has been announced that the repairs of two of the tanks have already been completed.
However, work is still ongoing to restore the necessary pipeline network required to utilize the tanks, and the Energy Ministry stated that steps will be taken to complete the maintenance work as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, plans are also underway to modernize the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery and increase its daily refining capacity from 50,000 to 100,000 barrels under a major development project.
The Ministry of Energy further noted that increasing fuel refining capacity across the country would help boost foreign exchange earnings while also strengthening national fuel security.
