People’s Collective Opposition Sends Letter to Chief Justice Over President’s May Day Remarks

G. L. Peiris stated that the People’s Collective Opposition has submitted a letter to the Chief Justice requesting attention over comments made by the President regarding court rulings during the May Day rally.
He made these remarks while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today (12).
Professor G. L. Peiris stated that before a court judgment is delivered, only the presiding judge is aware of its contents, and that the judge has no right to disclose such information to third parties.
He further emphasized that improper interference in judicial proceedings is a very serious offence.
