Alleged Underworld Suspects “Blumenthal Sanga” and “Modara Nipun” Arrested at Katunayake After Deportation from Abu Dhabi

Two suspected members of an organized crime network, known by the aliases “Blumenthal Sanga” and “Modara Nipun,” were arrested by Sri Lankan authorities at Bandaranaike International Airport on Saturday (13 June) after being deported from Abu Dhabi.
According to reports, the two men had fled Sri Lanka after allegedly being involved in various criminal activities and were later apprehended by security authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
Foreign media reports indicate that they were arrested in the UAE for allegedly possessing photographs and videos on their mobile phones related to recent missile attacks and drone operations associated with the ongoing tensions involving Iran.
After their arrest, the suspects were reportedly detained in an Abu Dhabi prison before being deported to Sri Lanka on Saturday night.
Upon arrival at Katunayake Airport, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department immediately took both suspects into custody and began recording statements.
One of the suspects, identified as “Modara Sathura”, has been handed over to the Central Crime Investigation Bureau in Colombo for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the other suspect, “Blumenthal Sanga,” remains under the custody of CID officers at the airport and is being subjected to further questioning as part of an ongoing investigation.
