Narendra Modi has commenced an official tour covering five countries.

As the first leg of the visit, Prime Minister Modi arrived today (15) in the United Arab Emirates.

He was welcomed by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two leaders later held discussions on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest. Special attention was reportedly given to the ongoing global fuel crisis and related international developments.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Modi reportedly stated that India would continue to stand in support of the UAE amid tensions involving Iran.

Both leaders also agreed on the importance of ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open without disruption, considering its critical role in global trade and energy transportation.

In addition, a key agreement was signed regarding the supply of natural gas from the UAE to India.

The agreement is expected to provide some relief to India amid concerns over fuel shortages.

The two countries also reached an understanding on cooperation related to identifying petroleum resources within India as part of efforts to boost domestic fuel production.

Meanwhile, India’s central government has reportedly increased petrol and diesel prices by 3.4 percent.
