
The Police Spokesman stated that search operations, raids, and arrests carried out islandwide under the “Rata Ma Eka National Mission” programme have been further intensified.
Speaking at a special media briefing held today (June 11) at the Department of Government Information auditorium, Police Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Attorney-at-Law) Frederick Wootler said the nationwide operation is being strengthened as part of ongoing law enforcement efforts.
Thousands of Arrests Made
He noted that authorities have arrested suspects based on 41,850 non-bailable warrants and 25,376 open warrants issued across the country.
Large-Scale Drug Raids
The Police Spokesman further stated that extensive drug raids have been conducted, resulting in the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics including heroin, ice (methamphetamine), cocaine, and cannabis.
Investigations have also been launched into assets believed to have been acquired through illegal drug-related activities.
Rehabilitation and Prevention Efforts
He added that programmes are currently underway to refer drug-dependent individuals to rehabilitation centres as part of national recovery efforts.
Public Assistance Requested
The Police requested the public to report information related to illegal drugs by contacting the emergency hotlines 118, 119, and 1818.
Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential to strengthen ongoing operations against drug trafficking and organized crime.
