Sri Lanka Air Force Colours Awards Ceremony Held with Defence Secretary as Chief Guest

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retired), together with the Chairperson of the Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit, Dr. (Mrs.) Ruwini Rasika Perera, attended the Sri Lanka Air Force Colours Awards Ceremony 2024–2025 as the Chief Guest.
The event was held on 02 June at the Eagle’s Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall in Aththidiya. Upon arrival, the Defence Secretary was welcomed by Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe.
Organized once every two years by the Sri Lanka Air Force, the ceremony recognized outstanding achievements in sports by Air Force athletes and teams. Colours Awards and special awards were presented to sportsmen, sportswomen, and teams who excelled across 33 sporting disciplines.
Addressing the gathering, the Defence Secretary commended the award recipients for their dedication, discipline, and perseverance. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in developing leadership, teamwork, and mental resilience, in addition to enhancing physical fitness.
He also praised the Sri Lanka Air Force’s continued commitment to promoting sports as an integral part of professional development and strengthening national-level representation.
The event highlighted the remarkable sporting achievements of Air Force personnel and reaffirmed the importance of sports in fostering excellence, discipline, and national pride. 🇱🇰🏅✈️
