Measures to Ensure Integrity of Government Revenue-Generating Institutions Reviewed

A discussion was recently held at the Presidential Secretariat under the leadership of Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake to review the operations of the Internal Affairs Units established in government institutions and the activities of key revenue-generating agencies in line with Sri Lanka’s 2025–2029 National Anti-Corruption Action Plan.

The meeting focused on the activities of three major state revenue-generating institutions:

  • The Department of Customs
  • The Inland Revenue Department
  • The Excise Department

The purpose of the discussion was to advance Sri Lanka’s anti-corruption efforts and strengthen a culture of integrity within these institutions.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the measures already implemented to prevent corruption and promote transparency. Discussions also covered future initiatives aimed at maintaining and strengthening ethical standards and accountability within these organizations.

  • Presidential Additional Secretary Chandima Wickramasinghe
  • Director General of Customs W.S.K. Liyanagama
  • Commissioner General of Inland Revenue R.P.H. Fernando
  • Commissioner General of Excise M.B.N.A. Pemarathna
  • Heads of the Internal Affairs Units of the respective institutions

The meeting forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve governance, accountability, and public confidence in state institutions responsible for generating national revenue.
