10 Helicopters Donated by the United States Arrive in Sri Lanka

Ten TH-57 “Sea Ranger” multi-purpose helicopters donated by the United States Government to the Sri Lanka Air Force have arrived in Sri Lanka by sea.
According to the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters, the arrival of these helicopters marks an important milestone in the long-standing security cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States. It is also expected to make a valuable contribution to enhancing the operational and training capabilities of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The helicopters are currently undergoing technical preparations and necessary modifications at the Ratmalana Air Force Base.
Once inspections and other required procedures are completed, they will be officially inducted into service and deployed for operational duties.
The Air Force expects these helicopters to significantly strengthen its aviation training capacity while also improving its ability to support a wide range of national requirements.
According to the Air Force Headquarters, the helicopters will primarily be used for:
- Pilot training
- Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations
- Search and rescue missions
- Other public service duties carried out by the Sri Lanka Air Force
The donation is expected to further enhance the technical and operational capabilities of the Sri Lanka Air Force while strengthening defense cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States.
