Compensation Provided for 69 Families Affected by the ‘Dithwa’ Disaster in Teldeniya
A compensation distribution program for 69 families who lost their homes due to the ‘Dithwa’ disaster in the Teldeniya area was recently held at the Pathahewaheta Divisional Secretariat.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Jagath Manuwarna, a Member of Parliament representing the Kandy District from the National People’s Power.
As the first phase of assistance, the affected families received cheques worth Rs. 2 million each to support the construction of new homes.
The event was attended by several government officials, including Niluka Bulathge, Thushari Gederakumbura, and Sagarika Dilhani. They were joined by other government representatives involved in the disaster relief and rehabilitation process.
The compensation program forms part of ongoing efforts to assist affected families in rebuilding their lives and restoring permanent housing following the disaster.
