Two Police Constables Suspended Over Alleged Allowance of Contraband Inside Detention Cells

Two police constables attached to the Western Province North Crime Prevention Division have been suspended from duty over allegations of allowing detainees to possess prohibited items.
Police stated that the two suspects held in custody were allegedly permitted to keep heroin, cigarettes, lighters, and tobacco pieces inside their detention cells.
It is also reported that foil papers used for drug consumption and rolled banknotes were allowed inside the cells for suspected drug use.
During an inspection conducted by officers from the Peliyagoda Criminal Investigation Division, these prohibited items were discovered inside the detention cells, according to police statements.
